Schoolboy knocked over in Wellingborough by car which failed to stop

A 10-year-old boy was knocked over while crossing the road on the way home from school in Wellingborough yesterday.

And police are appealing for witnesses after one of the occupants of the car shouted at the boy to look where he was going, before the vehicle drove off without stopping to speak to officers or report the accident.

The boy was crossing Croyland Road in Wellingborough between 3.40pm and 3.50pm on Tuesday, December 13, when a small white car came from the direction of Henshaw Road and knocked him over.

He suffered bruising to his leg and was treated initially at a nearby nursery.

A police spokesman said: “The incident was reported to us at about 4pm.

“We are investigating a non-stop road traffic collision between a 10-year-old boy and a small white car.

“Witnesses can call police on 101.”
