PUPILS have visited Kenya’s Great Rift Valley as part an ongoing link between Oundle School and Pembroke House School near Gilgil.
Junior pupils from Oundle School’s Year 7, 8 and 9 were joined by Year 6 students from Laxton Junior School for the trip last month.
Trip organiser and history teacher Ian Clark said: “The trip aimed to help ease the pupils into life in Kenya, and through our links with Pembroke House School we were able to spend our first two nights in fairly familiar surroundings.
“From then on, though, we moved into more unusual sleeping environments, from open-fronted thatched buildings with hippos on the lawn to camping in rain-soaked forestry.
“Most importantly of all perhaps was continuing Oundle’s partnership with Saidia House orphanage and Kimbo Primary School.
“Our pupils clearly fell in love with Kenya.”
