Wellingborough Safer Community Team (SCT) has organised a series of events during September aimed at women and girls from the age of 14 upwards.
They are designed to be fun, interactive sessions lasting about an hour-and-a-half with an opportunity for questions and answers at the end.
The sessions will cover anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, staying safe at night, hate crime, route planning and general safety advice.
There is nothing hi-tech about the advice given and no special or previous knowledge is needed to join in.
Sgt Sharan Wildman of Wellingborough SCT said: “I would encourage any woman over the age of 14 to come and enjoy one of our sessions.
“It is all about everyday life and how to be better protected.
“You do not need to be fit or strong to benefit from them and they are free.”
The sessions will be held from 7pm to 9pm on the dates and venues below:
Monday, September 2 – Hemmingwell Skills Centre, Nest Farm Crescent
Wednesday, September 5 – Surestart Centre (Queensway), Penrith Drive
Monday, September 17 – Redwell Leisure Centre, Barnwell Road
Wednesday, September 19 – All Saints Church, Midland Road
Monday, September 24 – Hindu Community Centre, Highfield Road
