Police are appealing for information after a burglary at Park Road Methodist Church in Rushden resulted in two safes being destroyed.

The offence is thought to have taken place between 7.30pm on Sunday, December 9, and 9.15am the following morning, after an offender entered the premises and searched the surroundings.

Two large metal safes were moved from the vestry at the Park Road church, to a cleaning room where they were later cut open, leading police to believe the offender was on site for at least a couple of hours.

Northants police stressed that nothing had been stolen during the burglary but they would like to speak to anyone who may have heard any noise or saw anything suspicious.

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
