A Rushden racing driver is one race away from competing against Formula One stars Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button after topping an online poll.
Bradley Philpot, 29, won the competition with a resounding 28.2 per cent of the public vote, and will race to compete in the Race of Champions next week.
He will race against second-placed Des Foley at the Olympic Stadium in London on November 19, with the winner going forward to race in the main event the following evening.
And Bradley says he simply has to say a massive thanks to the people of Northamptonshire for voting.
He said: “When I was told I had to take a time-out from a work meeting to do a little fist pump!
“I want to do my best and bring it home to repay everyone’s faith in me who has voted.
“I have to say a massive thank you to everyone from Northamptonshire who has voted for me.”
Bradley received more than 9,000 of the 33,000 votes cast.
And while he isn’t sure just yet of the format the race-off will take, he is confident he can secure his place in the main event.
He added: “Because I won the vote the judges will look more favourably on me if it’s close.
“I’m going to spend the next week studying videos of previous challenges and learn about the track to help me.
“I’ve beaten Des before in a similar knockout contest so hopefully I’ll be able to bring it home.”
