A road in Rushden was closed as firefighters rescued a cat.

Newton Road was shut for about 15 minutes on Monday, October 14, as the animal was rescued from the old fire station.

A Northants Fire and Rescue crew from Rushden was called at about 12.30pm, but then had to wait until an aerial appliance from Moulton arrived.

The road was shut by police just before 2.10pm.

A spokesman for the service said: “We were called by the RSPCA to assist them in a rescue of a cat.

“We were there for about two hours.”
