An organisation that helps groups and individuals with support, advice and information is appealing for volunteers.

Nene Valley Community Action, which is based in Rushden, needs people to help them with its “befriending service”

The organisation is looking for people to visit elderly and frail adults in their own homes, who may be isolated from the community.

Volunteers would need to have a sympathetic ear and a caring nature, be able to maintain client confidentiality and be reliable. The minimum commitment would be around two hours per week.

NVCA would provide initial training for the volunteer, ongoing back-up and travel expenses. Anyone who is interested in supporting the programme can contact NVCA to arrange a one-to-one informal chat about the opportunity by telephoning 01933 396382 or 313526.
