Royal Mail has announced it is making some changes to the way it delivers mail in Wellingborough.
From this week, postmen and women will use new delivery methods and adopt revised delivery routes as the changes are introduced.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “We are writing to every address in Wellingborough about these changes and this includes households, businesses and other organisations.
“Royal Mail provides one of the most comprehensive and best value mail services in the world. Our postmen and women play a vital role in Wellingborough, as well as across the rest of the UK, where we deliver to almost 29 million addresses, six days a week. “However, we need to modernise the way we operate. We are therefore making changes in Wellingborough to maintain our services and to keep our prices as low as possible.”
The Royal Mail says it is making the changes as fewer letters are now posted so it needs to organise its delivery routes “to be as efficient as possible”.
It says the time customers in Wellingborough will receive mail under the new arrangements will depend on where they live on the new delivery route, meaning peoples’ deliveries may be later or earlier than current delivery times.
If people have any queries after they have received a letter they can call Royal Mail’s Customer Services Team on 0845 6011399.
Royal Mail’s Collections and Delivery Sector Manager, Andy Reynolds, said: “We are proud of the high regard in which our postmen and women are held in Wellingborough. The changes to delivery routes will mean that a member of our local and experienced team will still be delivering to our customers in Wellingborough.
“The local delivery team and I are fully committed to providing a high quality of service that is as reliable and friendly as customers have come to expect from Royal Mail in Wellingborough over many years.”
