The band is one of five bands in the Foot Guards Regiments within the Household Division.

Its main role is to assist the regiments guarding the monarch by providing musical support for ceremonial duties, but over the years the band has toured extensively.

And it will be making a visit to Wellingborough when it performs at the United Reformed Church in High Street on Saturday, March 11.

Ian Nunney, chairman of the Wellingborough Royal British Legion branch, said: “We have the Band of the Irish Guards.

“It will be a really good concert, and it is just days before St Patrick’s Day.”

The concert follows a very successful event last year which saw the band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines performing in Wellingborough.

Last year’s event helped raise money towards the town’s RBL branch’s Poppy Appeal and this concert will again be raising money for it.

Doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Tickets cost £16 each and are available from Wellingborough Museum, the Hind Hotel, AO Copy Bureau in Oxford Street, Wellingborough, or by calling 01933 279410.
