Rothwell student could win national award

Harry Headland has a sight and hearing impairment but he does not see this as a barrier and instead he rises to any challenge.

He studies at Sense College Rothwell, where he is also a student governor.

Harry excels in his work placements taking real pride and a sense of achievement from every job he completes.

Harry said: “I’m very excited and happy to be shortlisted for the Sense award.”

The annual Sense Awards, now in their 15th year, will take place on Thursday, September 20, at TouchBase Pears in Birmingham, and will be hosted by BBC presenter Nikki Fox.

The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of people with complex disabilities, as well as the staff, carers, family members, volunteers and fundraisers that support them.

Sense chief executive, Richard Kramer, said: “Harry is a fantastic young man who has already achieved great things and he will no doubt achieve even greater things.

“He puts 100 per cent effort into everything he does and we wish him the best of luck for this year’s awards ceremony.”
