A hair and beauty salon in Rothwell is raising money for Kettering Hospital.

John Newman Hairdressing and Beauty is once again raising funds for the Kettering General Hospital (KGH) Charities with the company’s third annual fundraising event at Pitsford Reservoir on Sunday, June 28.

The event is for open to everyone, and you can walk it, jog it, run it or cycle it, and wear whatever you like, from a swanky hat to fancy dress.

More than 150 people joined in last year to raise money and all volunteers and spectators are welcome to support and jolly along the participants.

The director of the 90-year-old company, Shirley Newman, said: “We had an incredible event last year raising our biggest sum ever. We really hope to encourage many, many more people to take part this year, and to support our local hospital service and staff, for the long-term benefit of us all.

“We are hoping for continued support from local suppliers, as we are very proud that every penny we raise is donated to the KGH charities.”

There will be lots to see and do on the day, and the event will be supported by the Northampton Saints mascot Bernie, while Kettering Rugby Club will be parading their new mascot.

This year the event will support seven KGH charity funds - the breast unit, cardiology unit, dermatology unit, endoscopy unit, ophthalmology unit, stroke unit, and for the benefit of the community and staff at KGH, Revive, the Recreation Hall Fund. Each will have a stand on the day to raise awareness, and will be on hand to provide information on a variety of topics from bowel and breast screening, to recognising the signs and symptoms of a stroke.

In addition, there will be a range of other activities to encourage and promote a healthier lifestyle, including blood pressure monitoring and digital weight analysis.
