The Rich List: Who's in, who's out, from our area?

It's the time of year again to start checking old lottery tickets, searching through the attic for a lost Monet and looking down the back of the sofa for a discarded penny black.

The Sunday Times Rich List 2016 is out - and there are a few recognisable names on there.

The list of the richest people in the East Midlands is topped by Mike Ashley, owner of Newcastle United FC, who has a staggering £2.43bn tucked away - although according to the list he’s somehow lost £1bn in the past year (which seems a bit careless to us...) Mr Ashley is still only the 45th richest person in the country.

Mr Max, born Leonid Maksovich Rodovinsky in Russia, made his £400m fortune selling clothes from his upmarket fashion stable Max Studio.

In 2005, he purchased Easton Neston from Lord Hesketh and converted the 10,000 sq ft of the fire damaged Wren wing of the house, plus the out buildings which were the home of defunct Formula One team Hesketh Racing.

In 2012 Mr Max was given an honorary degree by the University of Northampton.
