Residents of Wellingborough's Queensway estate all set to Clean for the Queen

Volunteers are asked to meet at Glamis Hall at midday on Saturday

Residents of the aptly-named Queensway estate will be rolling up their sleeves to be one of many communities across the country taking part in the event in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Cllr Elizabeth Coombe, county councillor for the Brickhill and Queensway ward in Wellingborough, is encouraging people to join her and be part of the national initiative this weekend.

Volunteers are asked to meet at Glamis Hall at midday on Saturday (March 5) and then they will move down to Henshaw Road for 1.30pm.

It is hoped that members of Wellingborough police cadets will be taking part and equipment to clear up the area will be provided by Wellingborough Norse.

Cllr Coombe said she hoped lots of people would get involved on Saturday, and added: “It would be good if regular teams could grow out of this.”

Clean for the Queen events are taking place across the county, including in Rushden, Raunds and Corby.
