The opening of the new Islip site comes as the Primark centre 35 miles away at Magna Park in Lutterworth is due to close.

Speaking last year, a spokesman for Primark said the transfer of operations from Magna Park to Islip was due to take place by the middle of this year with a view to ceasing activity at Magna Park by September 2016.

The distribution centre in Thrapston will continue to operate in conjunction with the new Islip depot.

It is hoped the move to Islip will provide the budget fashion store with essential capacity and flexibility for growth.
