Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to a violent street attack which left a man dead.

Marc Sturgess, 41, of Stamford Road, Kettering, suffered head injuries following the incident in Barnwell Street, Kettering, on Saturday, June 1, and died six weeks later in hospital on Monday, July 15.

Six men, all from Kettering, were arrested in June on suspicion of serious assault and remain on police bail.

Nobody has been charged in relation to the attack.

However, a police spokesman said officers are following several new lines of enquiry and more people have been questioned as a result.

Officers would particularly like to speak to any taxi drivers who dropped off or collected anyone from the street around the time of the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Behan, leading the investigation, said: “I would ask anyone who was in the area of Barnwell Road, Kettering between 11pm and midnight on June 1, to contact us.

“I would especially like to speak with any taxi drivers who brought passengers to the area at those times.

“I would like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident.”

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information about it, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
