Corina Diaconu was banned from the profession for six months by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) after the mistakes, which took place over three months in 2015.

Miss Diaconu worked at Raunds Lodge Nursing Home having registered as a nurse in Romania, but two months after starting her job concerns were raised.

On two occasions she failed to notify the family of a resident after they had a fall when it was her responsibility.

She also failed to call 999 when a resident started having an epileptic seizure, claiming she called a colleague.

Her colleague vehemently denied this happening.

Weeks later, Miss Diaconu left a resident asleep all night in a chair in the care home’s lounge, claiming the lift was broken.

Her former colleague told the panel that she should have made different arrangements for the resident to sleep, with a ground-floor room sitting empty.

In addition, when a resident started choking the panel heard that Miss Diaconu stood there looking like she ‘didn’t know what to do’.

Miss Diaconu’s fitness to practice was found to be impaired and she was suspended for six months.

Miss Diaconu, who did not attend the hearing, told the NMC she wished to carry on nursing in Romania, where she has returned.

The panel determined: “Miss Diaconu’s actions did put patients at unwarranted risk of harm.

“Her actions have brought the nursing profession into disrepute and she had breached fundamental tenets of the profession.”

The determination will be sent to the nursing regulator in Romania.

Raunds Lodge Nursing Home has not responded to the Northants Telegraph’s request for a comment.
