A Kettering librarian has spoken of her surprise after helping to deliver a baby in the public toilets.
Library manager Sheila Jolley, was on hand to play midwife after a visitor went into labour on Friday, August 28.
She said: “The mum thought she was in labour before so we called the paramedics but they sent her home.
“She managed to make it outside but then it was clear she was about to give birth so she came back in.
“We heard her screaming.
“I was just on the library floor when she arrived and it was completely out of the blue – I’ve never done something like that before.”
