A Corby primary school judged as good in every category is on its way to becoming outstanding.

Our Lady’s Primary School, in Occupation Road, was inspected by Ofsted last month and scored good in pupil attainment, the quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of children and leadership and management.

Its previous ranking by Ofsted was satisfactory and this time inspectors said the school’s outside facilities and the rate of absence were the only areas preventing it being rated outstanding.

Heateacher Maire Hayes said: “Everyone has worked very hard and we are delighted that the school has been praised for its teaching and learning. Parents have become more involved and, as a result of that, we have a fantastic school community.”

Inspectors said teaching at the school was good and that some is outstanding, that teachers have high expectations and pupils of all abilities do well. Behaviour in lessons and around school is very good and there is a very strong link with parents who are seen as partners in their children’s education.
