Pupils and teachers from Wollaston School have been on a trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
The group spent four days exploring the traces of the horrors that were portrayed in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List. They researched and traced the footsteps of Victor Leserkiewicz, a Polish Jew born in Krakow who escaped death by finding work in Oscar Schindler’s enamelware factory.
They then followed the railway tracks that transported more than a million men, women and children to their deaths in Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Teacher Simon Hopkins said: “What better way to challenge the rise of prejudice and discrimination in the UK than to empower our young to be our ambassadors of hope for the future?”
