Public event to find out more about Wellingborough bridge closure

Residents in Wellingborough have been invited to a public event to find out more about work to upgrade the Irthlingborough Road bridge.

Network Rail say the bridge needs to be demolished and reconstructed as part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade, to allow a safe distance between overhead line equipment and the structure in anticipation of electrifying the line between Bedford and Kettering.

To allow Network Rail to begin work on the bridge, Irthlingborough Road will be closed from Monday, October 15.

A clearly signposted diversion route will be in place and pedestrian access will be maintained through the work.

The work will take just under six months to complete, with the road reopening on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Network Rail is holding a public information event for residents wishing to find out more about the work.

This will take place on between 3pm and 7pm on Thursday, October 18 at Diana’s Health and Fitness, 109E Finedon Road, Wellingborough.

Anyone who is unable to make the event but wishes to find out more about the work can call the Network Rail National Helpline on 03457 114141.
