Principal resigns from struggling Northamptonshire college

A principal at a struggling secondary school has announced his resignation.

After two-and-a-half years as the principal of Lodge Park Technology College, in Corby, Guy Shearer will be leaving after the Easter to pursue other opportunities.

Dan Pickard, Chair of Governors at Lodge Park, said: “Mr Shearer is a very popular member of the school community. He has approached all the opportunities and challenges that he has been faced with, particularly over the last couple of months, with integrity and endeavour. On behalf of all those associated with the College, I would like to thank Guy for everything he has done.”

The resignation came after the school – which is currently in special measures – was criticised by Ofsted last week for failing to improve quickly enough.
