Scores of people have packed into a local primary school as pupils, parents and teachers got well and truly into the Christmas spirit.
Thrapston Primary School is holding a winter wonderland extravaganza this weekend (December 15 and 16), with the whole community invited to attend.
The fair is an annual event, but lottery funding has meant the school could install an ice rink for youngsters and welcome the visit of two reindeer from East Carlton as well as Father Christmas in his grotto.
Stalls selling cakes, Christmas decorations and other goodies – as well as a Chinese auction with a signed Northampton Saints shirt among the prizes – also did a brisk trade all day on Saturday.
The school is raising money to fund improvements in its ICT provision.
Headteacher Nick Hearn said he was delighted so many local people had come to help at the school.
“We’ve really stepped it up from a fair into a community event,” he said.
“I’ve never seen it as busy as this. The lure of the ice rink has really pulled crowds in.
“It’s something new, something exciting and something different. Hopefully we can raise money to upgrade our ICT equipment.”
