The five Post Offices have joined up to the Adopt a Post Office scheme which will see them work closer with local officers and display crime prevention and security information at their premises.

The Post Offices in Nassington, Warmington, Barnwell, Brigstock and Oundle took delivery of leaflet stands and met with their designated police community support officer.

The aim of the scheme is to increase safety of staff and customers through increased visibility and create stronger links between them and their local policing teams.

Senior Post Office security manager Amy Quirk said: “We are always looking to create new partnerships with the police, which will benefit not just our two organisations, but the community as a whole.

“The Post Office remains at the heart of communities up and down the country, and we are happy to provide locations in Northamptonshire for the police to utilise in terms of liaising with customers and conveying key security and safety messages.”

PCSO Nadia Norman, from East Northants, said: “This scheme will assist staff and customers in discussing any issues or concerns more openly with local officers and open up more regular lines of communication.

“We hope that it will also help to reduce any anti-social behaviour or street related crime.

“There will be increased visible policing and information points in rural locations where residents can access crime prevention and police information.

“In some cases, the PSCOs may also use the post offices as community hubs, in some circumstances actually working from the local post office with the help of mobile technology.”
