Labour group leader Jean Addison, former deputy leader of Corby Council, spoke to us as voting was going on

We’re quietly confident in Corby. We think the vote has held in rural areas.

There seems to have been a lot of mixed voting within wards and we’ve had a different reaction on the doorstep than at the last local elections, particularly in places like Priors Hall.

We’ve fought a clean, honest fight in Corby and we’ve not personalised it.

The result in Hartlepool tells us that Labour needs to go back to the drawing board. We can’t rely on the politics of the 1960s.
