The full line-up of the senior team that will lead the new North Northants unitary council has now been revealed.

All but one of the five officers who will make up the senior management team of the new super council replacing the four borough and district councils in the area, will come from local authorities outside Northants.

Only the current director of children’s services at Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) Cathi Hadley will form part of the senior team and continue the same role at the new North Northants council. She will do the dual role for both the West and North authorities and work with the new independent children’s trust which is due to be established on November 1.

After a round of appointments over the past few weeks the selection panel of councillors has made its decisions, which will be formally approved at the full shadow council on September 17.

The chief finance officer will be Janice Gotts, a former colleague of NCC’s chief executive Theresa Grant from her days as boss of Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Janice Gotts joins the new council from her role as deputy 151 officer at Manchester City Council.

Adele Wylie, has been appointed to the role of director of legal and democratic services and Statutory monitoring officer. She currently does a similar role at Melton Borough Council.

And the current Director of Adult Services (DASS) for the City of Wolverhampton Council David Watts will take on the same role at the North Northants unitary.

Chief executive Rob Bridge was appointed some weeks ago.

Leader of the North Northants Shadow Authority, Cllr Russell Roberts, said: “I’m pleased to announce these four senior leadership team appointments, in a significant step towards establishing the new North Northamptonshire Council. It will enable members, supported by the recently appointed permanent chief executive, Rob Bridge, to drive forward what is needed to successfully transition to the new unitary authority on 1st April 2021.”

Two of interim bosses of the shadow council – the council set up to pave the way for the new unitary – resigned from their posts this week after not securing a senior role in the new unitary.
