A council spokesman said: "In light of the Government’s recent announcement that as of the 5th January the country will be entering into a national lockdown, Corby Borough Council would like to assure residents that services will continue to run, with the exception of the majority of leisure facilities which will remain closed."

Following guidance from the Government, Corby Council’s leisure facilities including Corby East Midlands International Pool and Lodge Park Sports Centre, Priors Hall Golf Course and West Glebe Pavilion will be closed throughout lockdown.

This will include all outdoor gyms, astro-turf and outdoor multi-use games areas.

The council spokesman added: "Our leisure teams are currently working on providing virtual classes where possible for leisure members, details and links will be shared.

"We will freeze memberships and not collect again until a month after we re-open."

With regards to parks and play areas, the spokesman said: "Our parks and play areas will remain open throughout the borough, notices will be up covering social distancing measures and reinforcing the rules that you should only visit the parks to exercise with your household (or support bubble) and that this should be limited to once per day.

"We would remind visitors to ensure they are adhering to these measures and that they are also not travelling outside of their local area.

"East Carlton Country Pak Café will remain open for takeaways only."

Corby Cube will remain closed during this time, including the One Stop Shop, however the switchboard will still be in operation 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

People can also email the council with any queries.

Anyone wishing to return documents to the council can post envelopes at the council's Deene House offices at New Post Office Square.

The post box is next to the council's main entrance, which can be found in between the Lakelands café and the Indoor Market.

With regards to waste collection, the spokesman said: "Corby and Kettering Borough Council’s Shared Street Scene Service are still out providing a refuse collection service as normal.

"We are asking residents to please ensure they double bag any waste containing tissues etc and leave aside for at least 72 hours before placing it into your general waste wheelie bin.

"The Household Waste and Recycling Centres are managed by Northamptonshire County Council."

And with any other services, the spokesman added: "We would ask residents to please bear with us during this unprecedented time as the speed of response may be slower than usual due to remote working and the need to prioritise service requests.

"We are working hard to ensure that there are no disruption to services whilst ensuring our staff and customers are safe."
