Harry Dunn's family say they feel more supported by the Government than ever before but urged Prime Minister Boris Johnson to back up his strong words with action.

The PM described the United States' refusal to extradite Anne Sacoolas, the woman accused of killing the Northamptonshire teenager, as a 'denial of justice'.

Harry's mother Charlotte Charles said Mr Johnson needs to 'use his power' to persuade his American counterparts to co-operate.

Asked what her message to the PM would be, she said: “Make the country proud of you.

"There are a lot of people out there who don’t necessarily have faith in this government and this is a chance for him to restore a bit of that faith.

“It’s certainly another step forward but until I see action they are, not empty words, but they are words that need action behind them to show us that they are 100 per cent going to stand up for us.”

Charlotte was talking to the media after what she described as a 'positive' meeting with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab yesterday (Monday, January 27).

Mr Raab reiterated Mr Johnson's remarks and explained what is being done by the Government to help the family's campaign for justice, including reviewing treaties.

"We feel the US decision on extradition amounts to a denial of justice and have been clear with them that Anne Sacoolas should return to the UK," he said in a statement.

"The family and I want to achieve the same thing. We want justice for Harry and we want to make sure such a terrible tragedy does not happen again."

Mr Raab is due to discuss the issue with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo when he visits the UK tomorrow (Wednesday).

In a video on Twitter talking about the talks with the foreign secretary, Charlotte said: "It was really good, really positive.

"He is definitely physically, emotionally and professionally involved with our campaign. He definitely wants to bring Anne Sacoolas back.

"He has got various options he can look at in aid to do so. So we are very much feeling supported, more so than ever probably that we can get her back."

Harry, 19, died in hospital after the crash with a car while riding his motorcycle on the B4031 between RAF Croughton and Croughton on August 27.

Sacoolas admits to causing the accident by driving on the wrong side of the road but flew back to the US after claiming diplomatic immunity through her husband who worked at the airbase.

She is charged with causing death by dangerous driving but the US rejected a request for her to be extradited.
