Harry Dunn family welcome poll showing two-thirds of Americans want Anne Sacoolas to be sent back

A survey suggesting two-thirds of Americans support the extradition of the woman accused of killing Harry Dunn has been welcomed by the Northamptonshire teenager's family.

Just nine per cent of adults in the United States think Anne Sacoolas should not return to the UK and the rest did not know, according to a YouGov poll published yesterday (Tuesday, January 28).

Family spokesman Radd Seiger tweeted: "Wow. As we have said all along, this is about right versus wrong and our American friends are with us.

"They are right. [US Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo is wrong. Time for Anne Sacoolas to come back."

The US government declined an extradition request by the Home Office for Sacoolas after she was charged with causing Harry's death by dangerous driving in the crash near Croughton in August.

Getting justice for the teenager is due to be discussed with Mr Pompeo during a meeting with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who described the rejection as a 'denial of justice', today (Wednesday).

YouGov's survey of 1,352 Americans shows the support for the family is not partisan as 67 per cent of Democrats and 64 per cent of Republicans back the extradition.

Meanwhile, a US petition for President Donald Trump to reverse the decision and send Sacoolas to the UK has nearly 280,000 signatures.
