People campaigning against plans for a housing development outside Irchester’s village boundaries have handed over a petition to MP Peter Bone.
The Save Irchester Village campaign group will also present the 2,012 signiture peition to Wellingborough Council, the local planning authority, later this month.
The group is against plans to build 124 new homes and a medical centre land west of 123 High Street, Irchester.
Chris Stening, chairman of the group said: “In addition to the 500 individual objections already logged against this development, this petition shows the overwhelming opposition to this and similar proposals which extend our village boundary. This is not a sustainable development, has significant envionmental impact and our local infrastructure cannot cope.”
Mr Bone, MP for Wellingborough and Rushden, will present the petition to the House of Parliament.
He said: “My role is to represent my constituents’ concerns about the overdevelopment of Irchester.”
