Police warning after 20 shed break-ins in Rushden and Raunds since the New Year

There have been 20 shed break-ins in Raunds and Rushden since the start of the year, most of which took place last weekend.

Local officers will be in the Market Square, Raunds, between 11am and 3pm tomorrow (Saturday) to speak to people and provide crime prevention advice.

Inspector Julie Mead said: “Investigations into these shed breaks are taking place and we are working hard to disrupt those people responsible.

“We are providing an extra presence in the area, targeting key locations and times in a bid to prevent further incidents as well as raising awareness of the issue.

“The team will also be holding a crime prevention event at the weekend, to share crime prevention hints and tips with the community and we hope to see a lot of people there.”

In many of the cases the padlocks have been broken off the sheds and items including garden tools, bikes and even a child’s quad bike stolen.
