Police to offer crime prevention advice in Barton Seagrave after spate of thefts

PCSO Christine Duggan and colleagues will be at St Botolph’s Church Hall from 7pm to 8.30pm to talk to local people and give security advice and guidance.

The event follows a number of burglaries in the area - although many have been as a result of unlocked doors or windows.

PCSO Duggan said: “In the past few weeks, there have been 11 burglaries and six thefts from vehicles and, unfortunately, about four out of five of these have happened because doors or windows have been left unlocked.

“During the evening, we’ll be there to give advice about home security, share information about local watch schemes, as well as talk to residents about any concerns they may have about crime and policing in their local area.

“We want to support our communities and help residents keep their homes and property as safe as possible, and I hope people will be able to spare a bit of time to come along and have a chat with their local officers.”
