Police officers from the Wellingborough Town Safer Community team invited the public to ‘Have your Say’ as they met and spoke to shoppers in a supermarket today (Friday January 25).

The event at Morrison’s, on Oxford Street, Wellingborough, was hosted so that people can speak to the police about the problems in their area and take advice, and crime prevention tips, from police.

Sergeant Simon Moreton, of the Wellingborough Town Safety Community Team, said: “It has been a successful day and we have spoken to a lot of people, who have taken an interest in what we are doing. We are ensuring that people are safe in their own homes, are securing their vehicles, and have their chance to have a say on the local policing around Wellingborough.

“It is an opportunity for the people of Wellingborugh to discuss with their local officers about their concerns in the area and have their say on the way the local police and the Safer Community team deal with their issues.”

The event was held between midday and 3pm today and officers handed bells and devices to shoppers, which help prevent the threat from ‘bag dippers’ and pickpockets.
