Plans for pizza chain Domino's to take over former bank in Thrapston

Domino’s Pizza UK & Ireland PLC wants to open a branch in Thrapston’s High Street where the Natwest bank used to be.

The pizza chain is applying for a change of use for the site from a bank to a hot food takeaway.

The unit has been vacant since December 2014 and documents submitted as part of the planning application say it has been difficult to attract interest from a retail operator.

If approved, bosses say the takeaway would create 35 full and part-time jobs which would be sourced locally.

Documents submitted as part of the plans state: “The site is currently vacant and been so for some time.

“The new Domino’s would generate footfall and create employment opportunities for local residents.

“As such, the change of use would improve the vitality and viability of the area and would be compliant with local and national policy.”

According to the plans, the proposed opening hours would be between 8am and midnight seven days a week.

They state there is some on-street parking on the opposite side of the High Street or free public car parks within walking distance of the site for customers.

A parking area for delivery drivers and members of staff would be available to the rear of the site.

Domino’s has hundreds of branches across the UK and Ireland, and in recent years has expanded its market to Germany and Switzerland.
