Plans for new heritage building at Stanwick Lakes

Stanwick Lakes has applied to construct a small, single-storey building that demonstrates a variety of traditional building techniques and materials.

If the plans are given the go-ahead by East Northants Council, the heritage building will be used as an educational showcase for demonstrating building methods from the past.

Documents submitted as part of the planning application state: “The building will have no detrimental effect on the landscape views of Stanwick Lakes.

“It will be situated in an area that already includes several other buildings and will compliment the adjacent green oak traditional crafts training barn.”

The plans say the heritage building would be constructed on land that is currently rough grass and scrub at the site just off the A45 near Stanwick.

They also say it will be positioned next to, and slightly set back from, existing access paths and no new access will be required.

Stanwick Lakes already offers courses in traditional crafts, including shoe making, blacksmithing, green woodworking and basket making.
