Plans to make a joint bid for an enterprise zone in Corby could be agreed tonight (Tuesday).

A successful bid would help make certain development sites in Corby, such as land at Rockingham Speedway, more attractive to inward investment.

The joint bid for an enterprise zone, aimed at boosting the economy and employment opportunities, would be made by Corby Council, East Northamptonshire Council and Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership.

Members of Corby Council’s One Corby Policy Committee will discuss the proposal at a meeting tonight.

The recommendation for the committee, as stated in the report, reads: “Agree for the council to formally request that Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership (NEP) submits a bid for an enterprise zone in Corby, working with NEP and East Northamptonshire District Council on the details of the bid/scheme.”

The intention to bid for an enterprise zone needs to be confirmed by August 14 and then the bid itself must be submitted by September 18.
