Plans to build an estate of about 700 homes on an estate to the north of Desborough have been given the go-ahead by Kettering Council.
The council’s planning committee met on Tuesday to discuss the application, submitted by development firm CJC Ltd.
Aside from the 700 homes, the application includes outline plans for a primary school, community centre and open space including allotment sites and green space for sports or leisure, play areas and a drainage system.
The applicants have also agreed to pay a contribution of more than £700,000 towards secondary and sixth form school places.
Desborough Town Council was broadly supportive of the plans, but asked that the developers consider installing a roundabout in Stoke Albany Road to access the new estate, and provide road access from Back Lane.
The design of the site will be examined in more detail when the full plans are submitted.
