Northamptonshire County Council is looking to double the number of places at All Saints CEVA Primary School from 210 to 420 places from September 2017.

Because the existing school site in Castle Street has no room for expansion, it is proposed to create an annex to the school in Croyland Road.

Cllr Matthew Golby, cabinet member for families and education, today (Thursday) approved a decision to publish a statutory notice to expand the school.

He said: “All Saints CEVA Primary School is a very popular school and we are looking to increase the number of school places available in order to help provide local places for local families.

“The current school building is Victorian and on a confined site, so we are therefore proposing to open an annex to the school which would provide places for 30 pupils per year group, opening in a phased manner according to demand.”

Parents applying for a place at All Saints would need to state a preference for each site separately, in line with other schools in Northamptonshire with split sites.

The decision to acquire the new site in Croyland Road was made by cabinet in October.

The publication of the statutory notice marks the start of a four-week consultation period.

The proposed expansion will then come back to cabinet for further discussion in January.

If approved by cabinet, the plans will be then subject to the normal planning application process.
