Tributes were today paid to a Northamptonshire farmer whose coffin was towed to his funeral by a vintage tractor.
Tony Bandey, 84, who farmed in Whiston near Cogenhoe for most of his working life, died earlier this month.
His former boss and friend, Jim Pitts, renovated an old trailer and organised for a vintage tractor to tow Mr Bandey’s coffin St Peter’s Church in Cogenhoe.
Mr Pitts said today: “You can keep all your superstars and footballers, he worked for what he had from nothing. He was a lovely man.
“He would have said ‘I don’t deserve all that, Jim,’ but, secretly, he’d have been delighted.”
