Petition is backed by 2,000

MORE than 2,000 signatures have been collected as a group of mothers continue their fight to save crucial county breastfeeding services.

The petition has been created following the announcement that the Mum-to-mum Peer Supporters group at Kettering General Hospital, and the Northampton Baby Cafe breastfeeding service are to close.

The group has already protested through the streets of Northampton last month and have now handed over the 2,500 signature-strong petition to the council.

The signatures have been collected by campaigning families online, in shops, children’s centres, libraries and cafes across the county.

The petition will now be passed to Northamptonshire County Council’s cabinet member for health and adult social services, Robin Brown.

The KGH service is set to close in April, but the mothers have launched a bid to save it from closure.
