Pet food spillage causes Rushden to reek

Court report.
Court report.

Drivers in Rushden were greeted with an unpleasant stench yesterday after a lorry spilt its cargo of pet food.

Police were called to the Newton Road roundabout at the A6 junction at about 5.20pm on Thursday, August 27, to help with the clean-up operation and to divert traffic.

One lane was blocked for more than two hours and was eventually fully cleared at 7.45pm.

Twitter user @MrsTrellis said it smelt like ‘rancid sardines’.
