Wicksteed Park's carousel cafe, ice cream parlour and playground will be opening from tomorrow (Saturday) for takeaways only.

The park's facilities have been closed to the public since lockdown was announced at the end of March. The loss of revenue has been devastating for the park and the operating company went into administration last month.

Since then, the public have rallied to support Wicksteed and have raised £138,238.

The park has also received £247,000 from the National Lottery.

The ice cream parlour and carousel cafe are the first facilities at Wicksteed to re-open. They will be serving takeaways only between 10am to 6pm on weekends and 10am to 4pm on weekdays.

The precinct toilets will open at the same times and the free playground will be available to use.

Wicksteed Park said: "The support we have received from fundraisers and volunteers has played a massive part in us being able to open these facilities at this time, so a huge thank you to everyone who is helping us."
