Wellingborough pubs back open - picture gallery of pub goers enjoying a drink after lockdown

Pubs have reopened under strict social distancing measures

Pubs across Wellingborough were back in business today (Saturday July 4) as they reopened their doors for drinks and food.

Punters were greeted by hand sanitiser, screens and a new set of rules to ensure staff and customers are safe from Covid-19.

Enjoying his first official pint at The Queens Head, was Joshua Beck who had his 18th birthday in lockdown.Instead of partying with 130 friends and relatives his celebrations were scaled back to him and his parents, Karl and Faye.

He said: "My birthday was nothing like we planned but we've rebooked."

Dad Karl had bought Joshua his first pub pint said; "It's a rite of passage. Now I'm waiting for him to buy me one."

In the bar, Derek Galloway enjoyed his first post-lockdown pint. He said: "It didn't touch the sides. It was very nice."

At The Coach and Horses in Oxford Street, friends Steve Hern and Ian Lewis were enjoying a pint of lager and real ale respectively.

Ian said: "I'm glad to be back.I've enjoyed my pint back."

Steve added: "I've missed the pub more than anything else."
