A Wellingborough nursery has taken part in a week of celebratory activities as a way of saying thank you to its team members.

Busy Bees Wellingborough, in Enstone Court, made gifts and cakes, sent motivational cards to one another, and created a super hero board to highlight everyone’s strengths to celebrate and reflect on the team’s hard work throughout 2020.

The activities formed part of a global initiative by Busy Bees nurseries, which has centres across eight countries, including the UK, to bring together its colleagues together from all over the world for ‘Love Your Team Week’.

Hannah Buckley, centre director at Busy Bees Wellingborough, said: “We had a great time taking part in ‘Love Your Team Week’ and were thrilled to have contributed so many miles to the global challenge.

“Here at Busy Bees Wellingborough, we aim to give every child the best possible start in life, and we couldn’t do this without the invaluable hard work of each and every member of the Busy Bees team.

"Their hard work is appreciated by us all, which is why we wanted to dedicate an entire week just to say thank you.”

The global workforce also took part in Buzz’s Up and Active challenge, with the aim of collaboratively walking the 24,000 miles equal to the circumference of the earth.

Busy Bees’ team members surpassed the goal, clocking up a total of 109,328 miles by the end of the week – the equivalent of walking around the earth more than four times in total.

As part of the challenge, the team at Busy Bees Wellingborough went the extra mile spending their lunchtimes and evenings getting up and active, contributing a total of 810 miles.

Cheryl Creaser, UK and Europe CEO of Busy Bees, added: “In a year that’s brought many challenges, our teams across the globe have well and truly stepped up to the mark, from staying open during lockdown for the children of key workers in the UK, to adapting and changing practices in line with differing guidelines all over the world.

"There are many studies which have shown that doing physical activity can improve mental health and well-being and that’s exactly why we wanted to encourage all of our team to get up and active so they can be the best version of themselves.

“Although our global nurseries are many miles away from the UK, we really are one big family, and the results of our global UP and Active challenge show just how well we can pull together. We value our team 365 days a year, not just one week, but ‘Love Your Team Week’ is a special annual event where we come together to really celebrate the hard work of every Busy Bees team member. We are hugely grateful to every person that contributes, in any way, to Busy Bees.”
