Wellingborough couple celebrate 72 years of marriage

They marked the occasion with a family meal

A couple from Wellingborough celebrated 72 years of marriage yesterday (Monday).

Syd and Vera Coles wed in 1948, just three years after the end of the Second World War and when Clement Attlee was prime minister.

They moved into their home in Windsor Road, Wellingborough, in 1953 and have lived there happily ever since.

Syd and Vera celebrated their wedding anniversary with a family meal with their children Pam, Diane, and Stephen and their spouses, Iain, Michael, and Mandy.

Their son Stephen said the couple were some of the first people to move into Windsor Road and a lot has changed since in the 67 years since.
