Hundreds of people gathered outside the Beetson family home in Torrington Road to see the switch flicked on the animated Christmas decorations - all captured from above by drone pilot, Richard Crouch of DronePix.

All the money raised over the festive season will be donated to Glamis Hall.

"We hope to raise around £4,000. The hall is used by the whole community so that's why we need to help."

Families watched display mastermind, Karl Beeston, set off the digital countdown to switch on the 50,000 light bulbs, dancing inflatable Santa, multi-coloured candy canes, cheeky elves and a sparkling snowmen called Big John.

The lights, sponsored by Plumbco, will be displayed every evening from 4pm to 10pm until New Year's Eve.

Karl added: "We love putting on the display for all our hundreds of visitors and we are very grateful that our neighbours support us in doing this."
