A make-up artist is spending her spare time making rainbow NHS scarves for dogs to raise money for Kettering General Hospital.

Elaine Barrow, from Thrapston, initially made them for her dogs, cocker spaniel Bailey and labrador Oscar.

But after a social media post led to requests for more she decided to do her bit for the NHS and make them to raise cash for her local hospital.

Elaine, 41, said: "I made them for my two dogs, put a picture on Facebook and it just went off.

"A couple of people asked me for one so I started making them for others and more messages came through."

So far she has already had orders for 16, delivering them around the Thrapston area and leaving them on doorsteps.

She decided she wanted to raise money for the hospital because of the care they gave to her grandmother and says she will make 'as many as people want'.

She said: "Quite a few years ago I lost my nan to cancer and she was there being looked after.

"They did such a lovely job and they have always been at the back of my mind because of how well they cared for her."

Elaine is charging £6 per scarf - £1 to cover her own costs with the remaining £5 going to KGH.
