TT Kidz is an eight-week programme developed by Table Tennis England to provide children with an inspiring, engaging and fun first experience in the game.

Those who take part will learn the basic skills necessary to enjoy a great game of table tennis, as well as all the benefits that an active life brings including fitness, hand-eye coordination and building social relationships.

Children must be over the age of six and under the age of 13 to participate in the programme, which costs £20 for eight weeks of sessions and includes a TT Kidz kitbag with a T-shirt, bat, balls and activity book.

The programme is being put on by Westfield Table Tennis Club at their Weavers Leisure Centre home in Wellingborough with the first session from 6pm to 7pm on Monday, February 3.

It is also being hosted by the Kettering and District Table Tennis League at the William Knibb Centre in Montagu Street in Kettering. The first session is from 6pm to 7pm on Thursday, February 6 with the car park in Alfred Street.

Greg Yarnall, who grew up in the county and is now head of development and volunteering at Table Tennis England, said: “TT Kidz is a significant investment and is aimed at attracting a new generation of players to enjoy the game.

“The programme has been put together in close consultation with specialist coaches to ensure the children have a positive, and above all, fun experience, while learning new skills.”

“Funding support has been secured through both Table Tennis England and Sport England. This will allow more families to access the programme and all its benefits.”

“We hope it will encourage them to join their local table tennis club and to keep a table tennis habit long into the future. I’m sure all the children who sign up will have a fantastic time.”

Places are limited and are expected to fill up fast. More information or to sign up visit www.ttkidz.co.uk.
