Raunds Town Council have announced that their Saxon Hall facility will be closed until further notice due to the coronavirus crisis.

The complex in Thorpe Street acts as a venue for local groups, fitness classes, parties, wedding receptions or meetings and holds many regular activities for all ages.

A spokesman for the town council said: "As I am sure you are aware, recent announcements relating to Covid-19 have made it impossible to predict how our communities will be affected by this outbreak, and indeed for how long.

"After very careful thought the town council have regrettably decided to closed the Saxon Hall until further notice."

The Raunds spring clean event due to take place on Saturday March 21 has also been rescheduled until later in the year.

A spokeman said: "As we face this unprecedented situation with Covid-19, Raunds Town Council has made the decision to cancel this years Big Spring Clean due to be held this Saturday, March 21.

"We would like to thank everyone that was volunteering on Saturday and hope we can reschedule later in the year."
