Rushden school CLOSED on Monday

A source told the Northants Telegraph that the leak was discovered as staff opened up Rushden Academy in Hayway in preparation for the new year.

As soon as staff smelt gas they informed gas operator Cadent Gas who isolated the supply.

It is believed the pipe, which is outside and underground, will be located and mended as soon as possible.

All staff and parents have been informed by text message and a notice on the academy's website said: " Due to a gas leak, the school will not be able to open on Monday, January 6 as we are unable to provide hot water or heating. We're working to correct the issue as quickly as possible and will update everyone later in the day on Monday."
