'I found 101 Ways to Reduce Plastic, You can too’ is now available to buy online more than a year after Kim started writing it after it was delayed by Covid.

She was inspired by David Attenborough's BBC show Blue Planet II after he said our oceans are under threat now as never before in human history, with reports that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fish.

Kim said: "It got me thinking, there must be a way to reduce the plastic we use.

"I looked around my house and looked at what plastic I could cut - and thought I might as well capture my journey."

Kim, who has given up her health and social care job to write, has cut out cling wrap and is now pretty much single-use plastic free.

She has already started writing a new book on environmental sustainability - which she is hoping will be ready by March.

The author urged people to cut down their use of plastic to help our planet.

She said: "Just doing something is better than doing nothing.

"So much is doom and gloom and if you want people to change you need to show them how easy it can be."
